Holiday Traditions

I suppose all families have traditions. Even if they don't claim them, things we do out of routine, necessity, nostalgia or by choice. When I was a kid, I remember decorating our house for the holidays. It wasn't my favorite thing (OH! The torture of putting lights on that intricate black gate!!) Also, road trips to see family. Christmas has always been a pretty huge deal in the Holloway household. It was a time that all the adults were off work and came from various parts of the US to spend a few days together.  There were years of cars breaking down and my great grandmother unknowingly opening the same gift several times (she was careful with the wrapping Great Depression style) and being surprised each time. Years of snow in NC when we wore bread bag boots and sledded on a flat road behind a car. Years of impatience when Ellen and I would open some gifts and wrap them back because we just couldn't wait ANY longer.
Sometimes I wonder what my parents intended for me to remember. Perhaps I should ask :)

Here are some of our traditions:

Christmas light hunts, complete with hot beverages, pjs, and blankets (and sometimes the A/C!)

Christmas movies
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon)
      Silly Symphony Christmas episodes
      Rudolph
      Frosty
Polar Express (new to us this year, but was quite good)
This is a short list of our favorites, share yours! We need some new ones.
