Tuesday morning we had a bit of time to kill before boarding a boat and going whale watching, so we went to a playground on the Esplanade on the Charles River. This playground was super cool! It was designed with older children in mind. There was even a zip line!
Then it was whale watching time! I have always wanted to see a whale. I am not sure why. Just something I have always wanted to do.
This picture is from when I was feeling fine, but about an hour in, seasickness hit me :/ I am glad it was only me and not Chloe and Autumn. I had some oils that I used on the cruise we took, but I forgot them in the apartment. The boat did have ginger candy and ginger ale, which both really helped. I was definitely NOT the only one having trouble either.
Once whales were sighted, I was fine :) Not really, but it did make it quite a bit more bearable. I am sure you can find better whale photos elsewhere, but seeing them in person was FANTASTIC!
After lego land, I had found a local mexican place on Yelp, so off we went. It was also pretty authentic. It was taco Tuesday, so I had 3 different tacos. I don't remember what they were...perhaps Adam will tell you in his comments :) We also got guacamole. She asked if we wanted spicy and we said yes. That was not a lie! It was SO hot!! I love guac, but I couldn't eat it, even though I gave it my best shot. I did ask before we left what was in it and she said jalapeƱos and habaneros :)

Adam came inside to get me and Autumn because the view was so much better outside. While Chloe was on the deck alone, a few dolphins swam right beside the boat! She was thrilled! There was a group of four whales and they were feeding together. All of the small dots, above the water, are birds! That's one way to find the whales...look for a huge flock of birds just above the water. It really was amazing and even with sickness, I am glad we went.
We also saw quite a few Atlantic white sided dolphins. Even though I have seen dolphins elsewhere, that was pretty exciting too. On our way out and back into the wharf, we saw a couple of lighthouses. Even though they are relatively simple structures, lighthouses are so interesting and usually hold a lot of stories.
After 4 hours on a boat, we got some food and then went to Legoland. This was the most anticipated part of the trip by Chloe. She does love legos. This giraffe...yep, made of legos.
They had a lego mini-land...all of Boston made of legos! It was really cool. I had no idea so many things could be made out of legos! I still don't know how, but at least I know it can be done :)
There were a couple of rides. One with laser guns to shoot at targets and one with peddles. Both girls loved those! We also built tall buildings and racing cars and various other structures. There was also a small indoor playground. Chloe and Autumn had a really good time, though Adam and I felt like it wasn't that great.
Another good day in Boston!

Awe I am sorry you got seasick! I guess you inherited that from me. :( I do have it much less now, if thats any consolation.... Anyway, so cool seeing whales! AND that playground looks so neat with not your average stuff. But the legos are amazing. What if you job was creating scenes out of Legos! That'd be fun!
ReplyDeleteI would do it again...just need to be still. Or wear one of those silly wristbands that they make for pansies like me :) I would not like the lego job...I am very NOT good at that!
