Camping...crackling fire, sticky marshmallows, snuggling in sleeping bags, and stories shared among friends... is a great past time. I think I would like to do it more, but then I realize that I like the IDEA of camping more so than the actual sleeping on the ground, avoiding bugs in my food weekend :) Maybe I just need to come up with softer bedding solutions and not be such a girl about bugs!
We did our "mostly annual" group camping trip mid October Thurs-Sat. Adam has been extremely busy at work so a few days to breathe together were nice. Chloe, Autumn, and I did all of the packing (with the exception of getting the gear out of our crawl space.) I went in there a couple of times and saw huge camel crickets and spiders and walked right back out!
Thursday night was a small group of just us, the Spence family, and the Shearer family. All the tents went up and supper was soon enjoyed. BBQ, Asian ramen slaw, and baked potatoes. We made the slaw because we had the impression that it was a healthy side...it was NOT! We need to work on the dressing mixture.
After dinner, we saw a couple of raccoons. When the kids went to bed, the animals really came out to play! I guess there weren't many campers garbage pails to pick from on a Thursday night, so we saw a plethora of raccoons and they were NOT afraid! We also saw a couple of deer and heard a group of owls hooting. Once, we heard a screech owl that seemed like it was right above one of the tents with children inside which was a little unnerving.

Friday night several families joined in the fun. For dinner on Friday we had a group of 25! 11 of those were children :) We spent our time around the campfire, eating, playing in the dirt, hiking, and relaxing together.

I miss camping. Glad you had fun!
