Amusements of Our Life

As I sit typing this, Chloe and Autumn are in the "hot tub" (our large master tub) chatting about saving people from drowning and making one another coffee.  They have become quite the set of girlfriends since we moved.  I guess Autumn is old enough now to actually participate in Chloe's never ending stream of speech.

Our nature walks look like this...
Their backpacks have their nature journals, colored pencils and crayons, and a bottle of water.  We have observed large turtles, bunnies, birds, and several plants/weeds.  The other day we did find some GIGANTIC mushrooms.
Chloe gets a thrill out of watching large vehicles.  We have several neighbors who work from home, so we get to see the UPS man almost daily.  Garbage day is also exciting.  Chloe can tell you all about their methods.  If we are outside when these vehicles come, this is how the girls watch.
Ninny and Two Daddy came for a weekend to celebrate Ninny's birthday.  We took them to the creek we have been exploring.  We were much more adventurous with them than we usually are and the water was deeper due to recent rains.  Two Daddy found crawfish, some sticky eggs, and a snake!  The snake was first curled up in some branches that hung over the creek.  Two Daddy of course chased it up onto the bank.  On our way back Chloe saw the snake come out from under a rock I was standing on in the water!  I had on flip flops, so Autumn and I made a hasty escape :)  It was a fun adventure, but I'd rather meet a snake on dry ground, preferably with a shovel in hand!

On Saturday, we made our annual trek to the Wilson County Fair.  It was steamy!  The girls loved the Midway this year :)  Motorcycles, swings, flying elephants, caterpillar rollarcoaster, and water gators.  We spent a short time in the animal barns and watched the pig races and a BMX show.  Chloe was really impressed with the bicycle tricks.  We truly didn't eat much.  The heat took our appetites away and all the good stuff is fried and HOT.  We did grab a couple of ears of corn on the way out though :)

Dog Days of summer should be spent like this...Big Papa's house has some treasures!

When it's too hot to do anything else:

I LOVE Autumn's long hair, but it had gotten so long it was getting in the way.  In her plate even up in a ponytail, stuck under her arms, etc...so we got a trim.  This place was so cute!  They even braided it, sprayed sparkles in it, and put hearts on her cheek.

Enjoy these last days of summer!
