This tree at our little home in Smyrna held lots of little legs in our time there. The night before we left we took a goodbye picture.
First photo in the same tree :)
Our moving day went splendidly! Tons of friends helped us pack and unpack the truck. Judy came that afternoon and unpacked our kitchen which was beyond helpful. With the kitchen and bedrooms put together we all slept peacefully our first night in our new home. The first thing Chloe and Autumn wanted to do was take a "swim" in our garden tub. I think in our 7 weeks here, they have taken a regular bath or shower maybe 3 times :)
Surprisingly, this bathtub is one of my favorite things, too. I have never been a bath taker, but I may be turning into one!
We did some fun out of the ordinary things our first week here. For example, we built a slide on our new staircase! Chloe was super excited. Autumn was a little more cautious, but once she tried it, she didn't want to take it down.

We were so pleased to have several of our new neighbors walk over and introduce themselves to us. One lady even offered to help us unload the moving truck. That was one of the scariest parts about moving. Our neighbors in Smyrna were fantastic for the most part. I want to have a neighborhood gathering so we can get to know them a little better, but I am not quite sure how to approach that. We know some names, but not much else. There are some children, but not really in the same age range as ours. Ideas?
Especially the first week we were here we went on several exploring walks to get to know our new neighborhood. We usually saw at least one interesting thing, but one night we saw THIS...

We have a couple of small neighborhood playgrounds nearby. Our new neighborhood is pretty hilly, so we have driven more than walked because it is hot, too.
We are pleased to have managed to entertain quite a bit already. We have had several over for Sunday lunch and had a few large group gatherings. Those things helped motivate me to unpack and decorate quickly! It has been so nice, the ease of giving directions to our house and that it only takes minutes to arrive from the church building. Our nieces came to stay with us for a few days as well.
I neglected to take a before picture, but this bed was covered in river rock. My mom and I shoveled and shoveled some more, moving it all to the back third. I think I am really glad we don't have to shovel snow here, shoveling is not easy! There is probably a foot of rock between those bushes and that window! I am so happy to have my herb bed back!
Adam ran his second 10K on the 4th of July. The girls and I were able to go watch since we live quite a bit closer to downtown Nashville. It was a splendid day for a run. We were even a little chilly while we waited in the shade. Adam did great, finishing in less than an hour!We are doing really well and are really pleased with our choice to move here. Adam's commute has gone down considerably and he has discovered he has a lot more time in his day. Our friends are so much closer and it's been so much simpler to have people over, especially on short notice. Hopefully, I will have more house photos coming soon!

I love the slide. I had many a sore bottom from sliding down our steps growing up. We used a pillow but it still hurt. I wonder if the boxes and carpet makes it hurt less. Did you go down?
ReplyDeleteGlad you are loving your tub. So many people say they hate them because they are too big to clean. But I think I'd like one. I'd just get in it to clean it. Thats how I do my shower.
I did not go down...I had to hold the boxes together. Chloe's favorite part was kicking the last box out of the way so she could bumpety bump down the last 3 steps.
ReplyDeleteThe tub doesn't have jets, so nothing to clean that a regular tub doesn't have. Apparently, we are using it often enough and wiping away the water splashes everywhere that cleaning hasn't been an issue :)
