As a little girl, my family took several camping trips. Sometimes when we went on vacation, we camped instead of staying in a hotel. The thing I remember most about those trips was the food. I don't know why being outdoors causes food to be so much tastier, but there must be some sort of seasoning in the open air!
Adam liked to camp with his dad and brother when he was young too, but his was different. Eating food out of cans and man stuff :/
We have only gone a few times, since we have been married. We went a couple of times before children with groups of friends and those were times we cherish! Lots of good stories to tell from those trips :) Come, sit around the fire with us, and we'll share some with you. We took Chloe once when she was about 6 months old with a group of friends and that went fine. Then we got pregnant again and who wants to sleep on the ground in that condition? Not me!

The chef, as usual.
We finally ventured out again this summer and we had a great experience both times! The first was with our group of friends that we went with years ago :)

Chloe, a little mother, was everyone's helper.
Our group has changed a bit, from that first group of friends. Couples have moved on and some have moved in and Oh, boy, the number of children! Hikes have turned into leisurely strolls instead of 9 mile exploration voyages. Sleeping you say? We tried to exhaust them and then prayed for the best, which seemed to work pretty well. It was fun, just a different experience.

Our group of campsites had a creek in the backyard, so after tent set-up, guess what the first order of business was?!

Our next trip was with Adam's family over fall break. Hunter was able to come with us, too. This was different for me, because I was woman in charge :/ Adam's mom hadn't been camping in decades. Our nieces and Hunter had never been. And Adam's dad had only been with boys. Adam's parents borrowed an RV, which was easier in many respects, but I still only want a pop-up :) I like roughing it, but having a comfy place to sleep and change is pretty great!
Hunter got to be a boy and explore, run, jump, and get dirty to his heart's content. We got to visit with Adam's family, which we don't get to do all too often. We took a hike that was splendid! Found a couple of caves, climbed some fallen trees, played with granddaddy long legs and caterpillars, and played Follow the Leader. Memories made!
This is the only photo I have. Adam's dad took some that I need to steal.
Camping season is over for us this year. However this one makes us look forward to camping in the spring!

I miss camping. But I think what I miss is the food. Like you, it was my favorite part. Dennis likes hotels, which I can't say is a bad thing. So I just have my fire pit at home and sit out there and cook and eat outside. :)
