Fair 2012

This past week has been lovely!  We were given a respite from the heat and we enjoyed it immensely.  We celebrated by doing several outdoor activities.  Last Saturday, we spent the morning at the park.  Autumn's favorite park activity is still swinging.  She rarely ever "finishes".  We usually have to tell her it's time to go do something else.  Chloe is becoming quite the little girl.  She has almost conquered the monkey bars and usually tries to climb everything.  Usually she gets a step or two from the top and decides she is too high, so she comes back down.

We went to the zoo on Tuesday.  (We went Monday too, but we were rained out.)  Still, the most interesting part to my girls is the farm part...the cows, lambs, horses, and donkey.  Maybe that means we need to move to the country and get us some acres and some animals!  Can you see Adam agreeing to that?!

Then Saturday, we went to the Wilson County Fair!  I L-O-V-E the Fair!  Animals, homemade goods, games, and fried food...what more could you want?!  We spent a lot of time with the ducks, chickens, and rabbits in the poultry barn.  Then Chloe rode a horse!  Yes, the girl who won't pet a dog, got on a horse.  Granted it was one of the smaller ponies that just goes in a circle, but I was very proud of her for getting (and staying) on.  She held onto the saddle and refused to actually touch the horse and she wanted me to walk with her and hold on to her the entire time, but I still thought she did great!  I won't list all the food we ate, but the corn was just as good as always.  We tried chicken on a stick and were pleasantly surprised.  I also possibly had the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had and I have eaten a lot of them.  Before we left, we ran into Nana and our nieces.  We all headed to the ride section to see if Chloe would ride anything.  Chloe was very excited about all the lights and things that moved.  She ended up riding a little train (with Emma) and the flying elephants (with Madison). She told us the train was fun, but not the flying elephants so much.  The elephants went "really high."  If the choice had been hers, she would have ridden more, but bedtime had already come and gone and it was a Saturday night, so we needed to head home.  Autumn was also enthralled with the rides and lights, but was just as content having someone hold her and THAT is much cheaper :)  Of course our adventure was not yet over...we got stuck in the mud on our way out.  Looking for an exit sign right as you are going through a ditch full of water is  probably not the best plan.  Luckily, a couple of good Samaritans offered to help in less than 10 minutes.
