First Haircut

Chloe is 3 yrs and 3 months old.  She has NEVER had her hair cut (with the exception of that one time Adam firmly held her head and I snipped her bangs because she was 6 months old and they were always in her eyes and annoying the fire out of "new Mom" me).  The past six months or so, I have been mentioning to Adam every so often that we needed to have her hair trimmed.  It was getting REALLY long (almost all the way down her back when wet), attracting lots of tangles, and needed shaping up.  Last week, I mentioned it to Chloe.  Just asking if she wanted to get a trim and talking about how much better it would look and feel.  Almost daily after that conversation she would ask, "Are we going to the hair cutting store?"  So today, we did it!
After Chloe woke from her nap, she and I went on a new adventure together.  Yes, I was a little sad that it was time to cut off those precious baby hairs, but it was way past time.  We went to Great Clips.  I know you get what you pay for, but this was nothing drastic, just a little trim with some shaping.  Well, they were fabulous!  The stylist encouraged my picture taking and even suggested some good
moments :)  We even got a special envelope for that lock of baby hair.  Here's the story in pictures:

Here hair was a little curled up because it had been in a pony tail all day so it was actually an inch or so longer than this photo shows

She was SUCH a big girl!  She said she was excited on the way to the salon and was very intrigued watching the people before her getting their hairs cut.  (I'm guessing a conversation about only professional people cutting her...or Autumn's...hair will quickly be in order :) )  She didn't whine or complain once and looked where they stylist instructed.

Here's the after!  It looks so much thicker and healthy.  She has some light layers around her face because those areas were still a bit shorter than the rest.  I think even though it makes her look older, it looks great!  Afterwards, we stopped at Sweet CeCe's (frozen yogurt) and had sprinkle topped yogurt to celebrate our new adventure.  Growing up is bittersweet, but definitely has sweet memories that will last a lifetime.  I love my Big Girl!

  2. Oh the joys of having girls I suppose....Wish H could have gone that long without a haircut. Of course.....I thought waiting over a year for his was a long time and THAT was the joy of having a curly haired babe :)
