Beach Bums

Our beach vacation was splendid!

Happily, Chloe was a much bigger beach enthusiast this year.  She still did not want to venture way out in the water, but we did get her jumping in the surf.  By Thursday and Friday, Autumn was also jumping in the water and she even went out past the breaking of the waves with me for a short time!  She probably would have stayed out longer, but I was a little nervous doing that.  The sand was NOT a problem this year.  Both girls dug their feet and hands in with great delight. Of course there are many more beach and sandcastle pictures, but this will have to do for now.

We spent as much time in the pool as we did in the sand.  We always went there after the beach to rinse off and warm up!  The weather was nice, but the wind was brisk and the water was chilly.  Both Chloe and Autumn are quite the "water babies".  Chloe learned to jump in from the side.  To the right, she is doing her version of a straddle jump.  I demonstrated and this is her rendition.  By mid-week Autumn was just walking off the steps depending on her arm floaties and those nearby to make sure she stayed afloat :)

We took a day and visited the aquarium.  That was a big hit with all of us.  The Lord made some pretty incredible sea creatures!  The list of things we did was pretty relaxing:
*walked on the beach
*played in the sand
*played in the water
*ate our share of Dunkin' Doughnuts (they do not make enough powdered vanilla cream filled!)
*read
*slept
*got to visit with family -  We had a short visit with my "Mom", cousin and his family, and Ginger on Saturday night and Sunday morning.  Plus, my uncle and his family came and stayed with us for a couple of days at the condo.  They are pretty awesome!  There's nothing like boogie boarding with Bubba!

Now, it's back to life :)

  1. So glad you got the straddle jump picture. I was aggravated that I didn't have one.

  2. Looks like fun. H has started talking about wanting to go out on the boat...and then ensues our argument about whether he knows how to swim or not. He is adament that he already knows how and does NOT need lessons. He was so adament that I had to call Mom and Dad and Sara to make sure that they hadn't taught him on one of his trips.
