Sisters

When I was a little girl, I think I took my relationship with my little sister for granted.  I knew she'd always be around.  I didn't have to worry about having someone to play with, she was always there...whether I wanted her to be or not!  When we got to be teens, if I couldn't find my favorite shirt, I knew she must be wearing it.  We played all sorts of sports together, laughing, learning, and RUNNING together.  We shopped together, went out together, and rolled our eyes at our parents together.  My sister knows things about me that most have no idea about.  One of the only things I regret about my childhood is not treasuring the relationship with my sister more.  During our college years, we kind of lost touch with each other.  I guess we were "finding ourselves" and since it was the first time we lived apart we didn't know how to keep in touch.

Thankfully, as adults, my sister and I are pretty good friends again.  We don't live close enough to knock on each other's door, but we do talk on the phone most days.  We laugh at each other's parenting whoas, trade weekly menus and recipes, share frugal shopping tips, talk about life as married moms, and encourage each other when times are tough.  This is one of my most treasured relationships now! Love you, Ellen!

I pray that one of the lessons I teach my daughters is how valuable the relationship between them can be.  Right now, Autumn always has her eyes on Chloe.  If Chloe is awake, Autumn watches her.  Hopefully, Chloe will realize what a wonderful example she can be for Autumn.  She will be able to teach her all kinds of things, just by doing them herself. (I think this will make my job easier, in some ways!)  Chloe is enjoying being a sister, I think, though, she is beginning to show her displeasure when Autumn has been awake too long for her taste.  She looks at me and says, "Autumn, nap!"  Either because she wants me to hold HER or play with her or some such.

Chloe likes for Autumn to "sit" beside her.  Autumn is still not completely stable, but I do what I can to encourage friendship :)  I hope the picture below reflects the love they will have for one another years down the road.

The girls and Cindi took Chloe home with them this past weekend.  While they were here, Madison did Chloe's hair.  I think she may need to teach me a thing or two.  It was adorable!  I am so uncreative with my hair, I don't even know where to begin with Chloe's. I am actually proud of myself that I fix her hair most days!

Autumn likes to hang out and watch whatever happens to be going on.  As long as someone is in the room with her, she's a pretty happy camper!

  2. Could you post a picture of me where I look gorgeous instead of semi drugged and exhausted from being enslaved at my sister's house please? I do, however, LOVE the first picture of the girls.
