Fa la la la la la la la la!

If you haven't looked at the calendar lately, Christmas is right around the corner.  I've gotten most of our Christmas shopping done and most of the presents are wrapped and under the tree!  I'm really proud of myself...I've never been ready this early before.  Granted, Chloe and I did do a lot of shopping before Autumn arrived, so that helped.

We are really in the winter spirit now, since Autumn has experienced her first snow!  We got 2 inches or a little more this past Sunday night.  It was really too cold (single digits) for us to go out and play in it, but we did take a smattering of pictures.  It was snowing in these pictures, but you can't really see it.  I was going to brave the chill and let Chloe stay out for a bit, but she was ready to go inside after less than 5 minutes.

As you can see, Chloe was more enthralled with the snow on her shoe than with getting a good photo.  Such is a photo shoot with a 22 month old!

We actually got "stuck" at Allen and Cindi's on Sunday night.  Adam wanted to surprise them at worship on Sunday night.  We did call and ask discreetly if they had bad weather and if they were still going to worship services.  We got a text message as we pulled into the parking lot that they had canceled services!  So, Adam called Cindi and they all ended up coming to meet us for supper.  Supper with 5 kids does take a little while, so by the time we were done, we realized the roads were pretty yucky and if nothing else, it was going to take a long time to get back to Smyrna.  So, we spent the night at Allen and Cindi's.  I don't mind spontaneous decisions, but this was a little much for me.  No clothes or toiletries?!  However, all was fine and we had a pretty splendid snowy evening.  It amazes me the amount that Chloe can understand now.  I am often surprised by her reactions to things I say because I don't really expect her to understand.  I was bundling her up after supper to head to Allen and Cindi's and I said, " Guess where we are going?  We are going to spend the night with Nana and Papa!"  Her eyes literally LIT up and she had the biggest grin.  I had no idea she would know what I meant.

One of Chloe's favorite evening activities right now is lying under our tree.  We did it the night we put it up and now she wants to do it pretty often.  It is a pretty interesting view and one that you don't experience all the time.  She's holding onto "Chloe's bell"...otherwise known as her first Christmas ornament.

I've tried to do a few photo shoots with the girls, but Chloe is not really at the age to just take direction and do it without a demonstration, so it's been difficult to get any good shots of both of them.  (And wouldn't you know in the one that turned out pretty well, there would be a huge stack of laundry in the background?!)  This shot still makes me smile and look forward to the love they will have for one another.

Yesterday, I had my 6 week PP checkup and all is well.  After that, Chloe, Autumn, and I got the opportunity to spend some time with a good family.  Chloe played with the boys (who are 9 and 15 and who she absolutely adores) while I got to chat with their mom.  They are such an outstanding example of a godly family!  I want so much for our family to be like them in that way.  I really enjoy time with this friend and we don't make the time to hang out often enough!

Today, we are off to the doctor.  Chloe has not been sleeping well, which is really abnormal for her.  She has been waking, crying, multiple times before midnight.  I think, after observing her in the daytime more closely, she has an ear infection.  She has still been quite the ray of sunshine, but she has been touching her ear every once in a while among some other things.  If not her ears, hopefully there will be an equally simple solution.

  1. Your blog is very well written. And even though I am your mama and the grandmother..... I still think it is well done and interesting enough to hold ANYONE's interest. :)
Autumn is gorgeous and that pink blanket really shows her off! Chloe and the shoe is hilarious. And the pic of the two of them is great! even with the laundry.
