Drawing Near

My 36 week OB appointment was yesterday.  It went REALLY well!  OB said heartbeat sounded perky and happy...not sure how a heartbeat can sound that way, but I liked the description :)  Then we had our first "check" to see if I am progressing at all.  I am excited to report that I am 50% effaced and 1 1/2 cm dialated already!  I'm thinking this may not be a Halloween baby after all, which is perfectly fine by me.  I've gotten quite uncomfortable lately.  Getting up 3 times a night to use the necessary room and tossing and turning for 30 min at a time to find a comfy sleeping position is really not very enjoyable.  I had already realized that we get to meet our new baby soon, but this appointment made it more "real".  Chloe and I went to the store and walked down the baby rows to make sure we aren't missing anything important for those first few weeks.  I didn't find one SINGLE thing to buy!  All our bags are packed and in the car, with the exception of the last minute things that we'll grab on the way out the door.  Adam and I are getting pretty excited to meet our little pumpkin!

Since it has gotten so much cooler, Chloe and I have been walking every day.  We went to the zoo with a friend and her son on Monday and Chloe had a blast!  She's really starting to notice the animals and even call some of them by name with no prompting.  Zebra is such a fun word to hear her say!  She really is an observant toddler.  Yesterday, on the way to the OB, we picked up Adam.  We take the same route to his office as we do to the zoo.  When we started getting close to the zoo, Chloe started asking if that's where we were going.  Amazing to me that she can recognize things that well.

Adam and I are trying to savor our last days/weeks (however long the Lord decides we need) as parents of an only child.  Chloe is at SUCH a fun stage.  Monday she helped Adam make 2 batches of muffins.  This is not pretend help anymore, by the way.  If she doesn't truly help, she notices!  This weekend, I am planning for us to visit a pumpkin patch and choose a pumpkin to carve/decorate.  I'm thinking Chloe will enjoy digging out the innards :)  I'm also hoping to bake some sugar cookies that she can decorate.  We did buy some fun, fall sprinkles at the store yesterday.

Some new things that Chloe is doing ~ giving hugs, blowing kisses, saying thank you sometimes and please most of the time

Till next time...wait anxiously for pics of our new family member!

  3. Hunter LOVES decorating cookies...I've found that the squeeze icing is the easiest for him to use. And I dont think I mentioned it the other day, but I eventually had to break Hunter in to cleaning out the pumpkin by rubbing it all over him...hair included :)
