BUT
No truly new things on my self-improvement list :)
In years past I have started out the new year with a list (sometimes long, sometimes short) of "resolutions". I have finally figured out that this DOES NOT WORK for me! Oh, yes, I plan to "improve" myself this year and start doing some new things with my girls and around the house, but nothing to set myself up for failure. Jumping in with two feet seems like a bad plan after the madness of the holidays anyway!
A few months ago (October maybe) we started going to the gym. I am running, rowing, biking, or ab-crunching 3 times a week. I'm not sure the results are visible, but I feel better and my clothes fit more nicely. I enjoy the time alone (but in a room full of people) listening to music, then showering and getting ready for the day with no children darting in an out asking if I am done yet. While folks say one day I will miss the darting of children into my bathroom space, I'm not sure that can REALLY be true :)
I want to READ! The only things I seem to read are blogs, self-improvement books, and homeschooling research. I need a good fiction book! Non-fiction is good too, as long as it's not too "lecture-y". Any suggestions?
One thing we did begin AGAIN just this month is a BUDGET. No, I don't like it. But, then again, who does? Of course, it's the short term we don't enjoy (not as many restaurant meals, not as many treats, using more adult time to plan meals around sales, etc.) while we try to look forward to the long-term of a rug for the living room, new linens for our bedroom, and eventually a larger, more centrally located home.
Happy 2013 to you!

Was that top picture on the blog itself, taken at Opryland? Those girls couldn't be any prettier.
ReplyDeleteLovin the tree hugging too. Can't wait to get there for a visit. xxoo
Yes, it was at Opryland.
ReplyDeleteThey have graduated to climbing to the next branch! Kinda high though and hard to prevent falling really.
